US Open: Brooks Koepka withdraws through injury in Canada leaving two-time champion's participation in doubt

Brooks Koepka has withdrawn from the final round of the RBC Canadian Open in Toronto as he deals with a hand injury.

Questions now hang over the five-time major champion's participation in next week's US Open at Shinnecock Hills, live on Your Site.

The former champion won the second of his two US Open titles there in 2018, but admitted following his round on Saturday at TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley that he was struggling to grip the club after feeling numbness.

"I'm struggling to grip the club with my ring finger and pinkie finger, so can't grip it," Koepka said. "My fingers would come loose, it was kind of numb. I don't know what the deal was but hopefully we'll figure it out."

He had treatment on the course and said he had never experienced anything like that previously.

When asked if he knew the exact nature of the injury, Koepka confirmed he was uncertain.

Koepka had made one of his strongest starts since his return to the PGA Tour following a stint in LIV Golf in Thursday's opening round, making eight birdies and two bogeys to earn a share of the lead.

On Sunday, soon before his tee time in the final round, Koepka withdrew.

"The whole warm-up, I felt fine, I was absolutely good," he said. "Then got to the range and went to grip the club and I just couldn't even grip it.

"So it lasted - it was all day. Felt better the last few holes. I don't know if that's just the meds kicked in or what it is but hopefully we'll figure it out now."

Who will win the US Open? Watch throughout the week live on Your Site. Live coverage from the opening round begins on Thursday from 12.30pm on Your Site Golf. or .
